About

About the project:

Started in 2003 by Christopher Glenn and others, the Glenn DNA research project was set up to help find family connections using the new science of genetic genealogy. The group now has well over 100 members with several large genetic clusters identified.

The goals of the project are to help Glenns find their genetic cousins and help find the origin of the various identified clusters of independent Glenn families of Ireland, Scotland and England. This blog has been set up to publish information about various Glenn lines and to supplement the Glenn DNA Research project on Family Tree DNA.

There are several published genealogies on the family of Glenn but the authors of those works did not have the benefits of DNA to help distinguish historical families. With this new information it may be possible to better understand who is related to whom. For instance some Glenn historians have assumed a family relationship between the Glen family of Balmuto, Fifeshire, Scotland and the Glen family of Barr, Renfrewshire, Scotland. DNA evidence thus far does not support that assumption but rather it appears these are unrelated and independent families. With each new member that joins the project our collective understanding of Glenn families is increased. Therefore please consider joining the project.
